A Flute Named Mockingjay

Writer: Desiree AguirreDesiree Aguirre

My friend Sandra gifted me with a Native American flute. Native American flutes, made out of wood, have an air chamber that acts like a bladder, smoothing out the flow of air into the flue. An external block, often resembling a bird with wings, covers the flue (attached with a string of leather, it can be removed to clean the flue). I have named the flute Mockingjay because she has a mesmerizing voice with a melancholy, haunting sound.
